Michelle Munson of Aspera is a Keynote Speaker at the 2017 Creative Storage Conference

--Conference Registration Deadline is May 22, 2017--

San Jose, CA, April 18, 2017—Michelle Munson of Aspera, an IBM Company, will give a keynote on cloud collaboration with high-speed file transfer services at the 2017 Creative Storage Conference (SM) (CS 2017). The conference will be May 24, 2017 in Culver City, CA.  Some sponsorship and exhibit opportunities are still available.

You can register for this premier event at http://www.creativestorage.org/2017Register.htm.    The registration deadline is May 22, 2017.

Following is the abstract for Michelle Munson’s talk:  With growing demand for 4K, HDR and VR production, the size and number of media content files continues to grow. The cloud’s promise of unlimited, on-demand increases in storage, computing, and bandwidth combined with its ability to facilitate remote collaboration makes it a highly attractive, future-proof option for modern media workflows. But moving large content files to the cloud can be very challenging. Traditional transfer software technologies are slow and unreliable, and shipping physical disk storage is time consuming, expensive and exposes content to unnecessary security risks.    This paper will examine the cloud’s technical bottlenecks and methods to overcome them, best practices for moving media workflows to the cloud, and the technology underlying a hosted multi-tenant service for fast and secure big data transfers to, from, and across cloud object storage systems that seamlessly connects public and private clouds with on-premises infrastructure.

Michelle is co-inventor of Aspera's Emmy® Award-winning FASP® transport technology and is responsible for overseeing the company's direction in collaboration with co-founder Serban Simu. Michelle was a software engineer in research and start-up companies including the IBM Almaden Research Center before founding Aspera in 2004. She has dual B.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering and in Physics from Kansas State University and was a Goldwater Scholar for achievement in Science and Mathematics, and later a Fulbright Scholar at Cambridge University where she received a postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science.     Michelle was the 2006 KSU College of Engineering Alumni Fellow (the youngest recipient ever), and in 2016 was made a SMPTE Fellow by the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers. In addition to receiving two Emmy Awards on behalf of Aspera, Michelle has received national achievement awards from Glamour Magazine and USA Today, and industry awards including the Hollywood Production Alliance’s Charles S. Swartz Award, TV Newscheck’s Women In Technology Leadership Award, and IABM Broadcast & Media Technology Woman of the Year from the International Association of Broadcast Manufacturers. Michelle is also a frequent speaker on big data transport, cloud infrastructure, mobile, and diversity in the technology industry.
